"My American Girl" (we used to call them "Just Like You") 18 inch American Girl doll with freckles across her nose and under her eyes, medium ash-brown hair (not the darkest brown) and clear blue eyes. This doll was purchased new as a gift from the Benefit sale in Madison last summer, but the intended recipient did not want the doll. If you don't quite understand what a "benefit" doll is, here's a brief explanation for you...when the workers at the distribution center here in town pack the dolls in boxes, they look out for things that might not be perfect. Usually, it is the eyes that need spraying because they didn't open freely, or the doll came with the wrong shoes, or something minor like that. The workers lubricate the eyes but then they cannot sell it at retail so the doll gets sold at the Benefit sale which benefits the childrens museum. They put an inconspicuous x on the cloth body (see photo). I cannot find anything wrong with this doll. It is in new condition but has been removed from the packaging and has been out to be inspected. There is no computer code or necklace. She is wearing the Real Me outfit and has her hair in factory pigtails. She still has that new doll smell. The box looks like a razor scored it lengthwise. No big deal if you are going to throw the box away anyway, but not good enough for a collector's item. Thanks for looking today. I'd be happy to answer anyone's questions.
